Job Summary:

Inside Technical Sales is responsible for processing customer quotes and orders, disseminating information to various departments and arranging for the shipping of products to customers. Inside Sales representative performs their duties over the phone as well as internet, email, faxes and written correspondence with customers, vendors, Outside Sales Team and all Ramco personnel. The Inside Technical Sales Representative will be assigned to a group of accounts to service in conjunction with an Outside Sales Representative.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Inside Sales
    • Receive request for price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations directly from domestic customers, original equipment manufacturers, and distributors via telephone, email, fax and standard mail.
    • Follow-up daily on all unresolved matters and commitments, providing the customer with daily status updates as well. Proper notations must be made with status in the CRM.
    • Ensure all customers receive an order confirmation from the Inside Sales rep once the order is entered with information regarding the shipping method and delivery dates as well as providing accurate lead times.
    • Achieve and maintains rapport with customers and works to exceed their expectations by providing the best possible service.
    • Utilize the CRM to update and maintain all customer account information including special comments, contact information, SIC codes, and pricing codes.
    • Work closely with shipping and receiving regarding deliveries of scheduled shipments.
    • Make price quotations immediately by phone on price book items with accurate delivery information.
    • Prepare formalized quotes as requested by Customers and Outside Sales the same day if possible, if not will respond within 24 hours of the request and will forward to all appropriate staff.
    • Check with the Clerical/Accounting Department regarding credit concerns and status of customers when rush orders are received.
    • Monitor open order report to check on delivery times of product to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
    • Utilize cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional sales items to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability.
    • Handle difficult customers tactfully in order to maintain business.
    • Travel to customer sites to visit key customers in order to strengthen our business relationship.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned
    • Sales process support as required
  • Technical Support:
    • Attend Vendor training and Factory schools in order to maintain a high level of product and vendor knowledge.
      • Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications
      • Process repairs and credits within 48 hours of receipt with accurate information.
    • Provide technical focus to key and prospective accounts in order to increase sales revenue via the following methods:
      • Application assistance. Technical support both onsite and via phone/email
      • Perform product offering analysis
      • Conduct seminars, training classes, lunch and learns, etc
    • Serve as a technical advisor and product advocate for our top product lines
    • Work closely with Automation Specialist and Value-Add Department to maximize customer value-add experience.
    • Participate in company and vendor training programs; increasing your product knowledge and improving technical selling skills.

Qualification/Requirements:

  • Lives in or near West Des Moines, IA.
  • Two-year Technical degree preferred or related experience
  • Strong technical aptitude matched with a focused sales and customer service drive
  • Excellent communication skills and engaging personality

  • Confident in making presentations or facilitating meetings to small or large groups
  • Must be able to travel within sales territory one day per quarter.
  • Must possess a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license and maintain an approved motor vehicle record (MVR)
