Rugged, compact safety light curtains with improved environmental resistance

The Panasonic SF4B Series Version 2 brings their safety light curtains to the next level with improved environmental resistance in a rugged, compact size. The SF4B series comes in three types of standard/robust types to choose from: finger protection (SF4B-F_), hand protection (SF4B-H_), and arm/foot (SF4-A_).

Global support for the safety of press or shear (paper cutting) machines

Response time of 14 ms for all models makes calculations easy

IP67 improved environmental resistance performance & easier operation

Pick the best type for the application

Select among each three types of standard/robust types or mix six types in a series to fit any application.

Unified response time

A fast response time of 14 ms has been achieved regardless of the number of beam channels, the beam axis pitches, and the number of units connected in a series. This reduces calculation work required for the safety distance.

Improved environmental resistance

A seamless structure with minimal joints has been developed to increase environmental performance and prevent penetration of the case by oil mists and dust. IP67 protection structure in a compact size.

Understand error details at a glance

The system constantly checks the safety light curtain for problems such as incorrect cable wiring, disconnection, short circuits, internal circuit problems and incoming light problems. Details of any electrical problems such as equipment startup will appear on the digital display. It is no longer necessary to count the number of times the LED blinks, making the system more convenient.

Muting control function

The safety light curtain is equipped with a muting control function that causes the line to stop only when a person passes through the safety light curtain, and does not stop the line when an object passes through. The muting sensors and muting lamps can be connected directly to the safety light curtain so that an exclusive controller is not required for muting to reduce costs and increase safety and productivity.

Smooth restart with override function

In case the power turns off while the safety light curtain has been interrupted by an object or in case the line stops before the muting conditions have been established (if only one muting sensor has been interrupted, the line can be restarted smoothly without having to remove the object that is interrupting the safety light curtain.

Incident light position at a glance

Beam-axis alignment indicators display the beam channels of the safety light curtain in four blocks. When the beam channel at the bottommost channel (or topmost channel), which is used as a reference for beam-axis alignments, is correctly aligned, the LED blinks red. After this, each block lights red as the beam axes successively become aligned. When all channel beam axes are aligned, all LEDs light green. The display also has an additional stability indicator (STB) so that set up can be carried out without greater stability.

Easy installation

The hexagon-socket head bolts used to align the beam axis can be accessed from the front of the safety light curtain. Beam adjustments can be carried out easily while turning the bolts. The beam-axis alignment part is directly and firmly fixed with M5 bolts sot that beam-axis misalignment can be prevented.

Optional handy-controller

The optional handy-controller (SFB-HC) enables the user to select a variety of settings, including separate muting control for each beam channel and deactivating specific beam axes. Other functions include emission intensity control function, monitoring function, protection function, copy function, and muting lamp diagnosis setting.

Applications

Detecting the intrusion and presence of a human being

Discriminate between a workpiece and a human being by performing muting control for each beam axis

Use the fixed blanking function to ignore obstacles that always exist
