Overall Purpose of the Automation Sales Engineer role:

  • Proactively generate new sales opportunities for Ramco in alignment with our Top 5 vendor focus.
  • Grow the assigned territory account by account

Job Duties:

  • Proactively develop new business with 80% focus on Top 5 vendors
    • Schedule 4-5 days a week on customer-facing activities
    • Focus on Target activity and Key accounts
    • Strong daily communications with Ramco team and Vendor team
  • Proactively schedule monthly updates and ride days with Top 5 Vendors
  • Communicate with Top 5 Vendors on all projects (pre-sale and post-sale)
    • Work closely with the Inside Sales Team to develop account relationships
  • Utilize CRM & GMAIL to log all activity related to customers(call logs, calendar appointments, and opportunities)
  • Generate opportunities in alignment with key Ramco product lines
    • Focus on new and key products launched by Vendors
    • Strategic focus on showcasing products in account base
  • Provide Technical support and application assistance on Ramco products
    • Provide support and solutions for external customers
    • Utilization of field and office Vendor technical staff when needed

Job Requirements

  • 2 or 4-year technical/engineering degree or equivalent technical sales experience
  • Strong desire to focus on growing sales of Ramco’s key suppliers
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Organized and energetic
  • Travel within territory up to 80% of the time. The remainder of the time is spent in the Office/Shop. Rare need for overnight travel.
    • Note: This travel will be self-scheduled

Working Conditions

  • A variable work environment which includes both indoors and outdoors, in industrial, commercial and office settings with varying environmental conditions.
  • Exposure to the environment of customer facilities which usually requires wearing safety glasses, earplugs and possibly a hardhat.
  • Up to several hours per day may be spent operating a motor vehicle traveling to customer sites, corporate office or factory training sometimes requiring overnight travel.
  • Appearance at all times must represent the company image.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs.
  • Work under typical office conditions which may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning and the noise level is moderately quiet.
  • Fast-paced environment: subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
  • Possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment.
  • Sitting in a normal seated position for an extended period of time
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
